A standard tarot deck has 78 cards, not 72. It combines 22 Major Arcana with 56 Minor Arcana. Knowing that structure gives you a useful map: you can learn one family at a time instead of trying to memorize every card at once.
The two parts of the deck
The Major Arcana includes named cards such as The Fool, The Magician, and The World. The Minor Arcana is divided into Cups, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles. Each suit has ten numbered cards, from Ace to Ten, plus Page, Knight, Queen, and King: fourteen cards per suit.
Decks can vary in their names and artwork, and some artists add extra cards. TarotHush uses a standard 78-card structure. Its card library lets you browse the Major Arcana or one suit at a time.
Learn by looking, then comparing
Open the library and choose one card. Before reading the prompt, describe three visible details: a gesture, an object, or the setting. Separate what you see from what you think it might mean. For example, “a person is carrying several objects” is an observation; “they feel overwhelmed” is an interpretation you can explore, rather than a fact about the image.
Next, compare two cards in the same suit. What changes in the scene? What stays familiar? This exercise gives you a way to remember the artwork without treating a keyword as the only possible reading.
A card’s position changes the question
The same image can prompt different reflections in different positions. In a position called “What to notice,” it might suggest an overlooked detail. In “Your next step,” you might use that detail to think of an action. Start with the question and the position, then consider the card’s theme.
What our library provides
Our library includes all 78 illustrations, short upright themes, reflection prompts, and links to artwork sources. It is an introduction, not an exhaustive dictionary of upright and reversed meanings. The current reading experience uses upright cards only.
Try learning one card today. Write down what you observed, one possible meaning, and a question you would like to explore. You do not need to memorize the whole deck before beginning.
